Maari — Abenteuer am Riff
The lovable squid girl Maari has found a home on the KiKA platform kikaninchen.de. Two games developed by Pixelcloud accompany the charming preschool series in which Maari and her friends — Tuts the turtle and Fin the crab — experience wild adventures on Blue Bay Reef.
Two games for the preschool series
Founded by ARD and ZDF in 1995, children’s channel KiKA extended its TV offering with the online platform kikaninchen.de, aimed primarily at preschool children. To accompany the series “Maari — Adventures at the Reef”, Bigchild Entertainment commissioned Pixelcloud with the concept, design and development of two browser games extending the TV series across platforms.
In “Save the Sea”, players clear the reef of dangerous human litter, and in “Fin-ball” the air-bubble goal must not be burst. This way, children engage early and playfully with the topic of environmental protection.
Save the Sea
The festival ground is full of rubbish and the coral tree covered in oil stains — the reef festival can’t take place like this! Only those who help Maari, Fin and Tuts clean up the reef polluted by humans can save the festival: spot the litter in the scene and dispose of it with the right character and the right “tool”.
Once all the items are found, they are hauled away on a hook — the reef is colourful again, the reef dwellers cheer, and everyone dances at the decorated fin-ball ground. Try it now »
Fin-ball tournament
Join the fin-ball tournament! With the right click you control goalkeeper Maari to prevent a goal — the bursting of the bubble. Every saved ball earns a fin-ball point and a joyful somersault from Spotti; catching a seagrass biscuit grants superpowers. But beware: Bubba changes the direction of the ball!
If the air-bubble goal is hit three times, the game is over. Save enough balls and last 90 seconds to earn a medal for excellent tentacle control. Try it now »
